  1. Here’s mine. See you in Portland!

  2. Congrats Chris, good stuff. Especially love your kids playing Ms. Pacman. And although it’s not looking good for me, I still thought I’d share mine – I’ve since fixed a couple of typos that went out on the original – which I doubt cost me the plane ride but nonetheless caused a good 2 -3 days of self loathing.

  3. Wow, both of yours are pretty amazing.
Seeing the ones (especially mine) that made the cut against the ones that didn’t makes me you really wonder what the selection criteria where.
(my “friend” keeps insisting they just picked 40 random entries ;) )

I have received the magic mail ! see you guys in Portland !

  5. Julien. Un Francais en plus! Je te vois la-bas!

  6. Hell, I decided to upload to slideshare. Might as well hear people’s opinions.

The last 3 pages are the bookmarks for which I did the wordings. Sad that despite being immensely liked, the project didn’t materialize.

  7. What the heck…thought I’d add a link to mine here. My goal was not to be “chosen” but to simply enter something. Anything! You see, I found out about “seeking” quite late and I tossed this together the night before the deadline. So, for me, I am happy that I managed to submit a pdf and NOT submit to my self doubt.

I’m really enjoying reading all of this, seeing entries and learning that Portland (and W+K) is such a darn desireable place. For those who do not know, The Ace Hotel is quite nice, newly renovated, centrally located and close to street car access. Powells books is a block away. There’s a nice restaurant, Clyde Common, and a great coffee shop, Stumptown Coffee Roasters, in the street level of the ace. You will all have a blast!!! Here are a few links….

  8. hi dears,

I was torn on sharing but… I guess I can take it. (People don’t seem to be thrilled with the simplicity or abtract-ness of folks’ chosen entries.)

If anything, it would be nice to gain familiarity with others before March, walking into a mysterious situation with 39 strangers!

I was invited. Somehow even more miraculous: I live but 8 blocks away from W+K. I didn’t let go of my letter until I called everyone I knew. My envelope isn’t on my head, but I’m certainly never throwing it out!

(excuse the final page, I blacked some text.)

  9. I’ve a question for those who got selected – Did you do the graphics work yourself? I’m starting to wish I had hired someone to express my ideas visually, like Chris told me.

  10. Erin,

Your entry is excellent. They asked to know you. You didn’t just reveal yourself; you offered disclosure.

  11. Erin, yours is genius.

  12. Also, of course I did all the graphics myself. I’m looking for a visual job.

  13. Yeah, Erin’s entry is fantastically good!

Good for those who could do their own graphics thingy. Me, I can’t even draw a straight line!

It’s a pity that I chose to send creative ideas in a non-creative manner. Oh well, shit happens.

  14. seen a lot of great entries here! congrats to everyone. going or not. it´s always good to try. and great to share.

  15. thanks for the kind words!

Everyone’s entries I’ve seen so far are great. I’m so curious as to who the other 34 people are…

  16. Just curious here, but do any of the people here going to Portland currently work in advertising?

  17. I work in an “interactive agency”, though mostly we just do websites.
I never really worked in a proper advertising agency.

  18. Thanks for the link man.
Unfortunately, no FedEx hat or me. Have fun there.

    See you Thursday, right?

  22. Salut zeppelinrepair,

  25. Tu connait pas ma tete? Behn c’est celle-la: http://failingharderbetterfasterstronger.wordpress.com/2008/02/22/friday-night-beers/
